The Goal of the HTTP to HTTPS Extension
This extension aims to make browsing the web safer and more convenient. There are many reasons for that:Security. When you visit a website, you don't know whether it's secure. Sometimes, by default, you'll get an insecure HTTP connection to it. However, HTTPS is a standard that ensures your connection is secured, with the only exception being the secure sites on the Internet, like the Pentagon, CNN, etc.Privacy. Many sites that use the plain HTTP protocol don't require any information about you to function properly, like your email address, name, or phone number. HTTPS, on the other hand, requires your mobile or computer to send some information about you. This data is then used for authentication, which means that they will know that you're the real owner of the device.Speed. Some sites are so slow to load that it can cause your browser to become unresponsive. That's why, it's recommended that you use HTTPS connections to them. The HTTP protocol is not designed for the modern web and is extremely slow. This extension automatically detects insecure web pages and makes a decision to automatically switch to the HTTPS version of the page. It doesn't affect pages that require you to log in or to make any additional actions.
